Lawton E. Wright

February 18, 1938 — January 5, 2021

Lawton "Bud" E. Wright, age 82 of Clay, NY passed into the arms of our Savior on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.

Bud was activated to full duty with the Syracuse, NY Air National Guard. He was a Master Sergeant retired with 36 years of service. His duty assignments put him in Phalsburg, France where he was acting First Sergeant of the Administrative section. During that period, he was assigned to an Air base near the Metz-Mosel River and only 90 miles north of Chaumont Air Force base where his brother was stationed. They spent many weekends traveling to historical location throughout Germany, France and Switzerland. While he expressed delight in the travel his mind and heart were always with his family in the Syracuse area.

He was very much a homebody and enjoyed woodworking and greatly enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an active and longtime member of Beacon Baptist Church in Clay and enjoyed fellowship with many there.

Bud is survived by his loving wife of 60 plus years, Irene M. (Ungleich) Wright; children, Lewanne (Todd) Fisk, Richelle (James) Chappell, and Christina Perrigo; grandchildren, Casey (Erin) Brundige, Christopher Brundige, Carrie (Daniel) Friedel, Caleb (Manda) Fisk, Carl II (Jessica) Hill, Kathryn Hill, Cabrey Murgitroyde, Kemrym Chappell, Steven (Chelsea) Perrigo, Jacob Perrigo, and Johnna Pruzinski; seven great-grandchildren with two on the way; brother, M. Gene (Judith) Wright, of IN; and many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to all the staff at St. Joseph's Hospital for their wonderful care and friends and family for their thoughts and prayers.

A celebration of Bud's life will be held at Beacon Baptist Church Route 31 Clay on Saturday January 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
