In his youth, Larry was a member of the Civil Air Patrol of Oswego County, which led to him joining the US Air Force, from which he was honorably discharged. In his later years, he spent time volunteering and serving at the American Legion, Robert Edwards Post 358, in Pulaski, NY.

Larry enjoyed tending bar, organizing Bingo and helping there however he could.

Larry loved horses, Australian Shepherd dogs, which he raised with his wife, his land and his family. Larry had many interests over the years, including becoming a Bovine hoof trimmer, carpentry, fine wood working, marksmanship, and classic country music. Larry was also an excellent dancer, a talent received from his father.
Larry loved nothing more than to enjoy a good steak and baked potato prepared on the grill. He especially loved it when served up on his deck, overlooking a beautiful view of his property, with a bonfire to follow on a summer night.
