Lawrence E. Monroe, 69, of Cato, NY passed away Friday. Born in Syracuse, NY, Lawrence served his country for 26 years; 6 as a US Marine and an additional 20 years with the US Army. Larry was a Vietnam War veteran in the 101st Screaming Eagles. His memberships included the VFW, American Legion and Disabled Veterans.
He is survived by his wife; Elizabeth Ann Monroe, a daughter; Dawn Hansen, sons; David and Michael Monroe and 5 grandchildren; Michael Monroe, Paige Hansen, Spencer Hansen, Victoria Monroe and Chelsea Monroe.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 11 am – 2 pm at the Lysander Fire Department. Full military honors will be given to Lawrence at a ceremony at 1:30 PM.
Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association or the Lysander Fire Department.
