LaVern J. Loretz, 92, of Manlius, passed away on Saturday at Loretto Nursing Home. He was born on May 15, 1920, son of Peter and Emma Loretz. LaVern enjoyed traveling with the family, visiting the Adirondacks and showing his antique car at the car shows. He worked for the L. Red Chapman of Manlius and for the Town of DeWitt for 14 years each.
Surviving are his wife, Adelia, of 71 years, 3 daughters; Carolyn (Jerry) Combes, Severn, MD, Gloria (David) Lincoln, E. Syracuse, NY, Virginia (Fred) Hittenrough, Marion, OH, 3 sons; LaVern, Jr.,Manlius, Duane (Eileen), Perryville, NY, David Paul Loretz, Canastota, NY, 8 grandchildren, James Combes, Michelle (Michael) Dosh, Cathy (Andy) Sanders, Andrew (Stacey) Oliver, Angela Oliver, Allyson Loretz, Christopher Loretz & Brett Loretz.
8 great grandchildren, David Combes, Melanie Combes, Sarah Dosh, Michael Sanders, Joselyn Sanders, Taylor Oliver & Ava Oliver, & Tierney Oliver, and 3 great great grandchildren, Tahirah, John & Damon.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew Lincoln and a great granddaughter, Chelsea Combes.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7pm at the Evangel Community Church, 500 McDonnell St., Chittenango, NY 13037. Services will be held on Friday 10am from the church by Pastor Jeff Heidt. Burial will take place at White Chapel Memory Garden, DeWitt.
