Krystine Keegan

Kristine Keegan of Cicero NY passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024, after a brief illness in the company of family. She was born on February 18, 1951, in Utica NY, daughter of Raymond Wal and Arlene (Furgol) Wal. She grew up in Rome NY and attended Oriskany Central School, graduating in 1968.

 She pursued a career in nursing, and received her BS in Nursing from Syracuse University and became a RN. Krys was known as a compassionate and caring professional and worked in hospitals in Hawaii and Upstate NY as a skilled surgical nurse, retiring from the Veteran’s Administration hospital in Syracuse.

 Krys was a joy to be with and loved spending time with her family and friends. Her smile and laughter will be sorely missed as she was the life of many a gathering. She enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean, Hawaii, and other southern destinations. 

 Krys was predeceased by both parents, her brother Larry Wal, and her first husband Glenn Russell.

 She is survived by her husband Dave Keegan, who she married in 2017 and together they enjoyed a happy second act. She is also survived by her stepsons Mike and Pat Keegan and their families, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins on the Wal and Furgol side of her family, and her many close friends.
