Kenneth Robert Reakes Sr., 92, of Brewerton, passed away February 4, 2025. Kenneth was born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania on December 8, 1932 to William "Jack" and Maude (Kidd) Reakes. He retired from Crouse Hinds after 43 years of employment doing outdoor lighting. After his retirement, he continued to work for The Waterfront Restaurant, Brewerton. He served in the Merchant Marines prior to his service in the United States Army from 1954-1956. Kenneth was a proud Korean War Veteran. He developed a love of Auto Racing through his brother Sam, who was a Hall of Fame Dirt Track Racer. That love was passed down through his sons and grandson. He loved spending quality time on the tracks with his family. Outside of racing, he enjoyed spending time on the river in Caughdenoy and at the American Legion in Central Square, as well as hunting up at camp with his family and friends. In his later years, Kenneth felt great joy sitting in his swing waving to those who would pass with his dog Fawn.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Aligtha Reakes; siblings, Samuel "Sam" (Zelda) Reakes, Gladys "Queenie" (Lee) Pryde, Kathryn "Kate" (Billy) Wells, Mary (Jim) Herr; son, Richard Reakes; granddaughter, Holly Graffouliere; daughter in law, Cathy Reakes; and brother in law, Carl Schaffer.
