Kenneth J. Birmingham

June 21, 1940 — November 18, 2017

Kenneth J. "Birmie" Birmingham Sr., 77, of Constantia, passed away on Saturday at his home. Kenneth was born in Oneida on June 21, 1940 son of Kenneth and Cathleen Birmingham. Kenneth retired from Camden Wire after several years. Birmie also was owner of KJB & Sons Logging. Kenneth (Birmie) dedicated most of his life as a volunteer firefighter serving and protecting his community. He started off as a volunteer with Cleveland Vol. Fire Department in the old Panther Lake station for a few years until West Amboy Volunteer Fire Department was created. He then joined West Amboy and gave 50 years of dedication and hard work to the department and to the community. Birmie instilled that same hard work and dedication into his children. For several years he also served as assistant chief and was a mentor to many of his firefighter family. Birmie touched the lives of so many.

He also worked for the town of Amboy highway garage for many years
He was preceded in death by son, Kenneth Birminghmam, Jr. and his grandson Joshua Birmingham.
He is survived by his wife Sandra, of 55 years, two Sons, Matthew (Pauline) Birmingham, Norman Birmingham; two daughters, Lorraine (Charles) Powelczyk, Tiffany (Bryan) Smith; daughter-in-law, Linda Birmingham 7 grandchildren, Abigail, Ken III, Chris, Cassie, Michael, Allicia, DJ; along with brothers and sisters.
A celebration of Kenneth's life will be held on Saturday November 25, 2017 at 1pm at the Amboy Vol. Fire Dept.
Burial will be private at West Amboy Cemetery.
