Kaye W. Brown

September 26, 1936 — January 28, 2021

Kaye White Schilling Brown, born September 26, 1936 in Ludington, MI, daughter of Jack and Doris Schilling, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2021. She was the loving wife of 63 years to the Rev. Dr. Thomas F. Brown, the beloved mother of Sue (Russ), Kimberly (Curt), Heather (Mark), Mark (Mijin) and Molly-Beth; and joyful grandmother to Tom, Calvin and Sylvie.

A Memorial service and celebration of life will take place when COVID-19 has abated.

Kaye was a graduate of Albion College with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Physics. She taught 3rd grade briefly before raising her family, later becoming a Librarian at Cayuga Community College in Auburn. She volunteered at local libraries wherever she lived and instilled a love of reading, writing, and creativity in all her children.

Kaye and her family enjoyed many adventures wherever they lived: in Union Springs, Sodus, North Rose, Auburn, Massena, Middleham (England) and Hawes (England), before settling in Marcellus, NY. Her special place was Happy's Island, on Sage Lake, in Michigan where she and her family spent summers for more than 55 years. Her greatest joys included her family, the beauty of nature, birds, and the love of all of the family's many dogs.

Kaye was active as a Girl Scout Leader, volunteer Librarian, a Literacy Volunteer, and worked with the League of Women Voters. She enjoyed reading and writing in her spare time, with a hot cup of tea at her side.

Donations may be made in Kaye's name to the Alzheimers Association,
Girl Scouts of America, NY Penn Council, or to your local library.
