Kathleen Emi Renz
October 16, 1954 — August 15, 2020
Kathleen Emi Renz, age 65, went home to be with God on August 15th, 2020. She passed peacefully in her sleep. She was born on October 16th, 1954 to Stanley and Chieko Tateishi. She married the love of her life L. John Renz on April 24th 1983 and enjoyed every moment with him until his passing in 2001. She is survived by her two children David and Michael Renz.
Kathy was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii where she met her husband, L. John Renz, through the local roller skating rink where he was coaching. Kathy lived all over the country before settling in Upstate New York. She worked a crazy assortment of jobs which ranged from school teacher, data entry clerk, candle saleswoman, and financial planner, to owning her own roller skating rink with her husband John. Everywhere that she worked she was a ray of sunshine to those around her, always drawing everyone in with her positivity and love for the lord. She was a person you wanted on your team to get things done even when it seemed truly impossible.
The two things that were most important to Kathy were her children and her faith. She sacrificed many times to guarantee the best for her children. With little notice she would hop on a plane to NYC to support their medical issues. Many sleepless nights were spent caring for her sons after surgeries. Her faith in the lord was very strong, she helped many women in their walks with Christ. She was always there to lend a helping hand. She will be remembered fondly by those many people whose lives she touched.
Even though her decline from illness was very fast she felt peace in her heart and knew that she was going home to God. Thank you to all her friends that helped care for her, made her feel comfortable, and feel loved in her last moments. The memories of her will live on through us and through God.
Kathy's memorial service will take place on August 31st, 2020 at Believers Chapel in Cicero at 11AM. This service will also be streamed live on her facebook account.
