Kathleen A. Coyer

November 24, 1943 — June 28, 2016

Kathleen A. Coyer, 72, of Liverpool, went home to be with the Lord on June 28th, 2016 after a brief illness at home.

Kathleen was born, Nov. 24, 1943 to Francis J. Coyer and Mary Lou Decker in Oswego, NY. She loved growing up near Lake Ontario, especially being out on the water boating with her dad. She graduated from Oswego High School and graduated from CCBI with a business degree. She worked for years at Unity Mutual Life Insurance until becoming a stay at home mom to her only daughter, Stacey. After Stacey graduated high school, she went back to work for Onondaga County Public Library in The Galleries in Downtown Syracuse. She later transferred to the Onondaga County Department of Health in the Civic Center. She loved her job and co-workers and loved helping people.

Kathleen was a breast cancer survivor and had an overwhelming love for her animals as they were a major contribution to her recovery. She adopted her dogs, Naomi, Rachel and Hannah over the years and they lived out a very full and happy life. Her friends often told her that when they died they wanted to come back as one of Kathy Coyer's pets. She rescued several cats and they never left her side. Kathleen was actively involved with Full Gospel Businessmen's Prison Ministry for over ten years and was the first woman to walk across Attica prison yard.

She opened her home to homeless people and stray animals. Her home was always filled with Jesus, Love and laughter and she had many stories to tell. She fed the hungry, visited prisons and shared the word of God. Kathleen often loved to write poetry. She attended Pentecostal Churches with her daughter and led an active Christian life. She loved the Lord with all her Heart. In her later years, she developed severe COPD and asthma which decreased her activity level .

Her happiness came from watching Mackenzie and Noah grow up, watching her favorite TV shows including never missing an episode of ABC News with David Muir. She enjoyed having Dunkin Donuts flavored coffee every day. She loved to color in the new adult coloring books as she said it was very calming. She loved to watch the birds and nature at the bird feeder outside her window. She was at peace as she knew she would go home with Jesus.

Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Stacey (Michael) Huling and her two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Noah Huling of Liverpool, NY; her cats, Clara, Razz and Punkypoo; two sisters, Jackie Grulich, of Oswego, NY and Jayne (William) Condon of South Dennis, MA; a brother, William (Phyllis) Coyer, of Princeton, NJ and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Kathleen's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
