Karen Schmidt-Pluff, 73, of Syracuse, NY, was called home to the Lord on February 14, 2025. Born on February 29, 1952, a rare leap-year baby, Karen always joked that she was technically only 18.
While she preferred the comfort of home over social gatherings, she had a sharp wit and a kind of dirty sense of humor that could catch you off guard and leave you laughing. She found joy in the thrill of a good mystery, spending hours watching her beloved “spookers”, crime dramas, and paranormal TV shows, and she made her way through every Steven King novel she could get her hands on. She also had a lifelong love for Elvis Presley, his music bringing her comfort and happiness throughout the years.
Karen’s world revolved around her family, who will deeply miss her presence.
She is survived by her son, Jeremy Pluff, and his wife, Sarah, her daughter, Michell Koons, and her husband, Bobby; along with six grandchildren, Alicia, Arianna (Beenie), Alexandra, Ava, Gage and Robert (Bubba) who will forever cherish her memory. She was also blessed with three great-grandsons, Caleb, Cayden and Shylo; brothers, Bob Schmidt and Rick Schmidt (wife Patty); as well as three nieces, three nephews and several cousins.
Though she lived a quiet life, those who knew her best will always remember her quick wit, sharp tongue, and the way she could make you laugh when you least expected it. She was loved, and she will be missed.
