Karen Hazelmyer, 64, of Cicero, passed away September 24, 2023. She was born in Syracuse on August 19th 1959 to Frederic and Shirley Gram.
Karen was a caring mother to her two sons, Alex and Shaun. She was a loving wife to her late husband, Don, for over 40 years. Her family meant the world to her.
She was an avid reader and worked at the Northern Onondaga Public Library for over 20 years. Although she started gardening to be able to watch over her sons in the backyard when they were young, it turned into one of her biggest passions. Her plants and flowers were always bright and beautiful, just like she was. She also loved hiking, biking, kayaking, snow shoeing, anything to be outside moving in nature. Karen and her husband Don loved to find new waterfalls every summer throughout New York, and unique treasures from all their adventures.
Karen is survived by her sons Alex (Hillary) and Shaun (Sarah); father and mother Fred and Shirley Gram; brother Kevin Gram; nephews and niece Jackie Perra (Mike) and her family, Don (Ellen), Adam (Christina); her beloved pets (dog), Micky and (cat), Jinx; and her two lifelong friends Diane and Joy.
She is predeceased by her husband Don Hazelmyer.
Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Karen's memory can be made to the SPCA or Francis House.
