Our wonderful mother, June Freebern, 89, of Parish, NY, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Bishop Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, surrounded by her loving family.
June was born in Lowville, NY, to Frank and Ellen Sullivan, on June 12, 1929.
She was raised and went to school in Glenfield, NY.
June moved to Cicero, and went to work for General Electric in 1951, where she met her husband Edward Freebern. Shortly after, she stopped working outside the home, and has been a full-time homemaker and mother who raised her four children as her primary vocation. June moved to Parish with the family in 1958 and has lived there ever since.
Over the years, June had many interests and hobbies which she excelled at. In her earlier years she loved gardening, sewing, refinishing furniture and camping with the family in the Adirondacks and at Harmony Acres. She also loved spending time with her six siblings and their large extended families.
Early in life June found the Lord. After the children moved on in their lives this became her main focus and she filled her time with the church and her spiritual growth. Though the later years have slowed her active involvement in the church, they have not diminished her faith.
She is survived by her four children, Ellen Maichak, Wayne Maichak (Madeline), Frank Freebern (Cynthia) and Mark Freebern, ten grandchildren, Cheryl LaDuke, Wendy Eckert, Wayne Maichak II, Frank Freebern Jr, Kimberley Maichak, Ashley Freebern, Ryan Maichak, Kristen Freebern, Sean Freebern, Erica Freebern, and 9 great grandchildren Michael LaDuke, Elijah Maichak, Ebenn Maichak, Austin Freebern, Nathan Freebern, Hailey Freebern, Elizabeth Whitney, Allison Freebern and Maddox Maichak.
June was preceded in death by her husband Edward Freebern of Parish, her six siblings and many nieces and nephews.
Her calling hours will be held on Friday, February 15th, at the New Comer Cremations & Funerals in North Syracuse from 4pm to 7pm, with a service immediately following.
There will be a spring burial and graveside service in Lowville, New York in May.
