Judy R. Townsend, 80 of Central Square, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 15, 2022 with her loving husband and daughters by her side. Born on March 5, 1941 in Locke, NY to the late Glendon and Esther Richards.
She was a world renowned woodcarver and painter. She was a member of The Woodcarvers Association and the CNY Chapter National Railway Historical Society, INC.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert; children, Terry (Ruth) Farnsworth, Melanie (Mark) Matteson, Suzette (Delos) Decker, Wendy (Tom) Hanrahan, Laurie (Walter) Stewart, JoAnn Townsend and James (Sue) Townsend; 25 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; brother, H. Lee Richards; niece, Kelly and nephew, Glen.
Predeceased by her daughter, Dawn LaPoint and brother, Keith Richards.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 2-4pm. Funeral Services will follow at 4pm.
Spring burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Central Square in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SPCA of CNY.
