Judith (Curry) Coulter

July 14, 1940 — April 9, 2017

Judith (Curry) Coulter, 76, of Cicero, passed away on Sunday surrounded by her family. She was born in Croton-on-Hudson and moved to Sherburne at the age of 12. Judith attended Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY and became a high school history teacher in Utica, NY. She met Kenneth Coulter, a state trooper, in Utica, NY and they were married in 1964. Together they had two children and many beloved pets, one of her favorites being her first dachshund, Hansel. Judith and Kenneth started a business and ran it together for over 30 years. Together, they enjoyed harness racing and owned several harness horses, one of their most memorable being Baldridge Lobell. After retirement, she spent the remainder of her life doting on her grandchildren and being the rock of the family.

Judith was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Berna Curry; husband, Kenneth Coulter; her younger sister, Sharon McGregor; son-in-law, Brian Richards and sister-in-law, Susan Curry.

She is survived by two children, Robert (Laura) Coulter and Berna Richards; grandchildren, Maria, Codi, Daniel, Minuette and Summer; brothers, Charles (Elizabeth) Curry, Randolph Curry and David (Julia) Curry; brother-in-law, Ralph McGregor and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday at her family home in Sherburne, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to CNYSPCA or Humane Society of CNY.
