Joyce D. Churchill

February 23, 1934 — March 6, 2024

Joyce D. Churchill (Marks) 90 years young, passed away peacefully and comfortably at Seneca Manor with family by her side on March 6, 2024.

Predeceased by her Daughter, Debra Capozzi (Churchill) and Great-Grandson, Gabriel Schaffer.

Joyce is survived by her Husband of 73 years, James Churchill of North Syracuse, NY. Her Daughter, Brenda (Sarah Chapman) Churchill of Enosburg Falls, VT, Sue Churchill of North Syracuse, NY. Her Niece, Sally (Patrick) Gaffney of Rhinebeck, NY. Her Grandson, James (Melanie) Schaffer of Sherwood, OR. Her Granddaughters, Jessica (Christopher) Banta of Clarksville, TN. Teresa (Nicholas) Beardslee of Mexico, NY and Elisabeth (Christopher) Bourgeois of Elmira, NY. Her three Great-Nieces, and her ten beautiful Great-Grandchildren, along with many dear friends.

Joyce was loved tremendously by all. She goes by many names singularly, however they all mean "Love". She was an astonishing homemaker and a wonderful teacher of her many skills to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Joyce loved to bake, cook and share recipes. She hosted every holiday and milestone in all of our lives. She and Jim loved to camp and spent many Summers in Quechee Gorge, VT. She was an avid Bear collector and loved to listen to Luciano Pavarotti. She could be found huddled up with "The Girls" for their weekly card games for Pennies, watching her "shows", and loved to shop. Joyce's love and support knew no bounds and especially loved when her Daughter came to visit and spend the time together. Joyce was exceptionally proud of her grandchildren and looked forward to the visits from her Grandson and hearing about all the adventures that the family took abroad, and the many skiing trips. And she loved "gabbing" with her Granddaughters about anything and everything.
Over the last year Joyce became an integral part of everyone's day at Seneca Manor, she was not only a Long term Care Resident at Seneca Manor, but a friend and family member to the staff who took care of her. Even after becoming a resident, she loved to host and without fail, always made sure she had snacks and goodies to share.

On behalf of the family, we would like to thank the amazing family of Seneca Manor 3rd Floor and ancillary staff for your abundant love, care and support. Thank you to Oswego Emergency Dept and the Oswego ICU for the wonderful care and continued after care during this time of uncertainty. Additionally, Thank you to Oswego City Fire Dept for the accommodations, and Menter Ambulance for your professionalism and continued service.
