Joyce Phillips, loving mother and grandmother died on February 27, 2017.
Joyce was raised in Auburn, NY where she attended Central High School and Auburn Community College.
After retiring she moved to Clay, NY to be near the lights of her life, Gabrielle and Allison, her beloved granddaughters.
Joyce was predeceased by her mother and father (Charles and Lucy Phillips) and her siblings, Carol Smith; James Phillips; David Phillips; and Janet Bealer. Joyce is survived by her daughter Ellen (Sam) Anagnostopoulos; her granddaughters, Gabrielle and Allison; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Fred Smith; and her church family.
Joyce was a member of Beacon Baptist Church located in Clay, NY. Her fellowship with her church family deepened her relationship with God and prepared her to face the end of her life with grace and dignity.
During the last few days of her life, Joyce was often the one comforting those who came to visit her in the hospital.
Her last day was spent visiting with friends and singing hymns that were dear to her heart.
At Joyce's request, there will be no calling hours or memorial service.
Joyce hopes people will remember her in the way that she lived her life.
The family is requesting donations be made to mascotsforacure.org. This is an organization which is seeking to bring awareness (and hopefully one day, a cure) to childhood cancer.
