Joseph V. Calabria Sr., 62, of Liverpool, passed away Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Syracuse, Joe worked for New Process Gear where he was known as "The Joker" before retiring in 1999. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the US Navy aboard the USS FDR Aircraft Carrier. Joe's passion in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, brothers, David and John; sister, Marianne Monaghan.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Michelina M. "Micki" Cupoli Calabria; sons, Joseph II ( Heather) and David (Patty); daughter, Krissy (Bill) Bryan; brothers, Tony, Larry, Jimmy, Bobby, Carl and Buddy; sister, Edy Bowman; half brother, John Banks; 7 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be Tuesday, 7 PM at New Comer Family Funeral Home. Friends are invited to visit with his family on Tuesday from 5-7 PM, before the service, at the funeral home.
