Joseph Anthony Sauro

Joseph Anthony Sauro, 83, of Syracuse, passed away June 22, 2023. Joseph was born in Syracuse, New York on July 15, 1939 to Anthony and Helen Sauro. He was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School, Class of 1957. Joseph proudly served in the United States Navy from 1958 - 1962 during the Vietnam War. After 34 years of employment, Joseph retired in 1996 from New Venture Gear, as an electrician and machine repairman. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling and spending time playing the slots at the casinos. Most importantly, Joseph loved spending quality time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Lamb and parents, Anthony and Helen Sauro.

Joseph is survived by his love of 27 years, Margaret Sauro; sons, Timothy Sauro and Fay Stephen (Angela) Lamb; daughters, Sue (Patrick) Chalone, Theresa (Andy) Powell and Karen (Rod) Crowell; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; siblings, Joan Sauro, Janet Shook, Patricia Fortunato, Thomas Sauro and John Sauro; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held, Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 1-3pm at New Comer Cremations and Funerals with a funeral service to follow. Burial will be held privately at Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Joseph's memory to Hospice of CNY and of the Fingerlakes.
