Joseph Palermo, 78, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at Francis House. Born in Rye, NY, Joe grew up in Stamford, Conn. He was an Army Veteran, stationed in Germany after WWII. Joe graduated from Tri State University and SU, earning a MS in Electrical Engineering. He worked in GE's Heavy Military Dept. as an engineer and retired with over 30 years of service. Joe was a true outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing. He was an avid golfer and skier well into his 70's.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Ruth M. Miller; son, Jeffrey J. (Lori) Palermo; daughter, Deborah A. Dilts; brother, Ralph (Grace) Palermo; grandchildren, Clarise M. and Ryan J. Dilts and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday, 7 PM at New Comer Family Funeral Home, North Syracuse. Friends are invited to visit with his family on Monday from 4-7 PM, before the service, at the funeral home.
