Joseph L. “Leonard” Nitsch, 92, of Syracuse, passed away August 26, 2024. Joseph was born in Syracuse, New York on July 12, 1932 to Joseph and Centa Nitsch.
Leonard served in the United State Airforce, and did a tour in the Korean War. He spent much of his time in Alaska. After his military service he came home to Syracuse, and later met his wife, Kay. He enjoyed working, designing and inventing. He had many patents and took pride in his work. He also enjoyed playing the zither, spending time in the outdoors, occasionally hiking and camping. Most of all he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by Mother, Centa Nitsch; Father, Joseph Nitsch; Sisters, Centa Preston, and Alma Abend.
He is survived by his Wife of 62 years, Kay Nitsch, Two Sons, Mark Nitsch, Stephen Nitsch; Daughter, Linda (Michael) Smith; Seven Grandchildren; 8 Great-Grandchildren; Sister, Rita DiRienz; and many Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
Services will take place at Unity Church on Saturday, September 7th at 1 pm.
