Joseph MacVittie, 92, of North Syracuse, passed away May 28, 2018. Joseph was born in Niagara Falls, New York on August 25, 1925 to the late Roy and Ruth MacVittie. Joseph served in WWII with the U.S Navy on the USS Yorktown and was very proud of his country. He was honored to go on the honor flight to Washington D.C. Joseph was a member of the American Legion, a Syracuse University alumni where he was president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, USS Yorktown Association, and a previous member of the Liverpool Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, elder, and trustee. He was a dispatcher for 43 years for the Intercollegiate Rowing Association, and crew manager for Syracuse University. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of 61 years; three sons, Jay MacVittie, Walter "John" (Debbie) MacVittie, Joe (Maureen) MacVittie; daughter, Nancy Lonkey; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
