February 26, 1934 — August 13, 2019

Joseph W. Hammond, 85, of Cicero, passed away on Tuesday, August 13th.

He attended Wolcott Central School, served in the US Navy and worked at New Process Gear for 34 years, until his retirement in 1996.

Joseph enjoyed riding his motorcycle for many years. It was his second love, after his love for his family and friends. He made friends in the GWRRA, traveling all over the country with them.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley; two children, Deborah (James) McLoughlin and Brian (Debbie) Hammond; grandchildren, George (Sam) McLoughlin, Erin (Scott) Shoop, Jamie (AJ) Bradley, Brian (Beemer) Hammond and Christopher (Beth Blount) Hammond; 11 great-grandchildren with two on the way; half-sister, Rhonda; half-brother, Kevin and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Norman Hammond; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Hammond and sister, Nona Jean Dyer.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 19th from 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, with a service to follow at 7pm.
