Joseph F. Henderson, 75, of Cicero, was born in Abington, PA, May 7, 1934. Joe resided in Parish, NY for several years and attended Altmar-Parish Schools. Joe was a volunteer fireman in Parish. He joined the US Navy during the Korean War and served aboard the U.S.S. Columbus, Heavy Cruiser CA-74. Upon release from the Navy, Joe met and married Ilena Horton. They were married for 49 years until her death in March, 2006. They were constant companions and traveled extensively. Joe was a volunteer fireman in the Cicero Volunteer Fire Dept. for over 45 years. He was a member of the Cicero United Methodist Church, Amboy Republican Lodge 0650 F&AM, member of CNY and national SPAAMFAA, Cicero Cemetery Assoc., Veteran's Assoc. of the U.S.S. Columbus. He was a life member of the Cicero Fire Dept., New York Assoc. of Fire Chiefs. Life Member of Onondaga Fireman's Assn., and Onondaga Co. Fire Police. Joe spent several years with the Cicero amateur sports assoc. and served as President of Cicero Elementary PTO. Joe's parents and 3 sisters predeceased him.

Joe is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Cotter of Sioux City, IO; sons, Joseph E. of Syracuse and Steven J. (Julie) Henderson of Liverpool; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday, 9:00 AM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Burial will follow in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. Calling Hours will be Friday from 4-7PM at the funeral home.
