Jose Vasquez, lovingly known as Chino, passed away on February 4, 2024, at the age of 50. He was born on December 18, 1973, in the Bronx, New York, and most recently resided in Syracuse, New York. Jose had a zest for life and enjoyed various hobbies, including cars, fishing, watching action movies, and supporting Syracuse University games and the New York Yankees.
When it came to food, Jose had a wide-ranging palate, with a particular fondness for Spanish cuisine, seafood, and Amy's Spaghetti and meatballs. He had an eclectic taste in music, with a preference for Gangsta Rap from the 1990s and Spanish music.
As a child, Chino's interests included CB radios and model cars. He explored New York City on his BMX bike and developed a lifelong passion for fast cars. Beyond his hobbies, Jose's greatest love was his family. He adored his daughter, Aliyah, his dog, Paco, and his girlfriend, Amy. Engaging in long conversations and making people laugh were among his superpowers.
Jose's proudest accomplishments were being a father and nurturing a large extended family, including nieces and nephews. He valued unity and played the role of peacemaker, always striving to bring people together. Jose's generosity extended to offering help and support whenever possible, and he had an innate ability to connect with others.
Jose's love for gathering with loved ones was evident in his favorite place in the world: New York City. He enjoyed TV shows like Judge Judy, First 48, and Cops, and passionately followed SU Football and Basketball. His faith in Jesus Christ guided his life and he shared his experiences and lessons with others.
Jose Vasquez leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unity. He will be deeply missed by his brothers, Ricardo and Angel, his sister, Angelica, his daughter, Aliyah Vasquez, and his girlfriend, Amy Button, all of whom were fortunate enough to have known him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
