Jose Gomes, 89, of Syracuse, passed away April 8, 2010 and Aurora Ribeiro passed away June 6, 2019. Both passed away peacefully.
Jose and Aurora were both born and raised in Portugal. They fell in love and married October 21, 1958. In 1985 they immigrated to the United States and lived in Syracuse, NY, where they both became United States citizens in February of 1998.
Jose and Aurora loved watching soap operas together. Aurora enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting. She also loved word finders and cooking. Jose enjoyed welding, visiting his sons and eating Aurora's cooking.
They had three sons together. Aurora was predeceased in July of 2016 by her beloved oldest son, Mario (Anabela). They are survived by Fernando (Maria) Rogerio (Gilda).
They have seven grandchildren, Elizabeth (Gaetano), Sandra (Luis), Joao (Regan), Hugo (Sue), Susana, Mario Jr. (Becca), Estela (Blaine), and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the care given to Aurora by the caretakers at Bishop Rehab and Nursing Home. A very special thank you to Connie, Cindy and Lisa on 3 North.
Graveside services and burial will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 10:00am at North Syracuse Cemetery, 555 South Bay Road, North Syracuse, New York.
Arrangements were made by New Comer Cremations & Funerals of North Syracuse, New York.
