Jonathan (Jon) Gilbert, 18, was called home by the Lord on April 27th, 2021 after a life-long battle with juvenile diabetes.
Jon was a January graduate of West Genesee High School and had recently completed two welding classes at OCM BOCES. He worked at Copper Top as a busboy until after graduation and then began working at Lowe's in Camillus. Jon's love for the Lord was reflected in his infectious smile and a contagious laugh. He made friends everywhere he went. He lit up a room with his personality.
Jon was passionate about all things racing. He followed NASCAR, Indy car and many of the European racing circuits. He loved the beach and was looking forward to moving to the Gulf Coast. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his parents, Mark and Karina Gilbert; brothers, Andrew, Benjamin; sister, Elizabeth; maternal grandparents, Cheryl (Charles) Brown and Steven (Elizabeth) McConoughey as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Ray and Barbara Gilbert. Services will remain private.
Contributions may be made in his name to Helping Hounds.
