Jon Patrick Dodd

September 10, 1956 — September 8, 2017

Jon Patrick Dodd, 60, died peacefully at home in the cabin he lovingly built.

A true craftsman, he was a carpenter by trade.
Jon had a thirst for knowledge and was an avid reader. The New York Times and NPR fueled his interest in worldly events. He frequented libraries, and shared his love of literature with his grandchildren.

Jon's heart was as big as the great outdoors. He loved the ocean, woods, and rivers, where the boat he built carried him on many adventures. Jon's passion for life led him on countless journeys. He always took the back roads, a lesson he instilled in his children.
Jon was a generous and kind man, always mindful of the golden rule.

Work took Jon to Folly Beach, SC. in 1982, where he raised his daughters. Over the course of 25 years Jon's friends became family.

Jon "Buddy" Dodd was a friend to many. He marched to the beat of his own drum (congas), and created a life he loved. He will be remembered for his genuine, compassionate spirit, and quick Irish wit. He will be missed.

Jon is predeceased by parents Barbara and Richard Dodd, and brother Rick Dodd.

He is survived by his former wife, and lifelong friend Kim Dodd, daughters Katelyn [David] Edwards and Morgan [Joshua] Gerlach, grandchildren Logan Dodd, Grace and Olivia Edwards, and Harrison Gerlach. A brother James [Kathleen] Dodd, and sister Kathleen [William] Copich, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and childhood friends.

There will be a mass at St. Lucy's on Gifford St. Saturday, September 16th, at 11:00.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Planned Parenthood.
