John Henry Wiltse, 90, of Liverpool died on Wednesday at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego. He was born and raised in Hannibal.
He married his late wife in 1949 and they moved to Liverpool in 1965. He was an engineer and inventor. He owned his own conveyor manufacturing business, Wiltech. He enjoyed woodworking, genealogy, and building radio-controlled model airplanes. He was an adventurous man, driving several sports cars, scuba diving and was a pilot. He also did a parachute jump. He loved spending time with his family at his family cottage in Fair Haven, where he taught water skiing to all the kids that wanted to learn. He was a communicant of Christ the King Church.
He is predeceased by his wife Helen Malone Wiltse and his sister Mary Ardis Wiltse.
He is survived by two daughters, Peggy (Michael) Woodford of Williamstown and Mary (Donald) Abulencia of Liverpool; two sons, Jon (Sara) Wiltse of Albany, David (Joyce) Wiltse of Hannibal; two brothers, Donald of Parish and Charles of Fair Haven; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 11-12pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse, with services at 12pm, at the funeral home.
