John W. Rhone
d. April 24, 2009
John W. Rhone (87) passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24th at Loretto Health Center in Syracuse.
Born 3/16/22 in Jamison City, PA, to Esther Hess Rhone and Frederick O. Rhone, he lived in Lyons Falls, NY for 20 years. He had a younger brother, Frederick J. Rhone of Brantingham Lake, NY and Mulberry, Florida, who passed away in 2006. He served 3 years in the US Army during WWII and participated in the North Africa and Italian campaigns.
Jack lived in North Syracuse for 46 years, and was an active member of Andrews Memorial Methodist Church and Centerville Masonic Lodge 648. During this time, he worked for United States Fidelity and Guarantee Co. as the accounting manager for the Syracuse office, and retired in 1985 after 37 years with the company. An avid skier, he most recently he lived for 10 years at Town Center Road, Baldwinsville. Jack was also a devoted golfer and member of Beaver Meadows Golf Club.
He had two caring wives, Eleanor Egan Rhone who passed away in 1973, and Cora Robinson Rhone, who passed away in 1994.
He is survived by:
Son Kevin J. Rhone and his wife Ellenmarie of Dedham, MA; Stepdaughter Terry Flower and her husband Dr. Robert Flower of No. Syracuse, Stepson Donald T. Weir of Argyle, NY, Stepson Daniel A. Weir of Union Springs, NY, 12 Grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home on Saturday, June 6th 2009 from 12:00-2:00 and a service of remembrance will be held at the funeral home immediately following.
Contributions in Jack's memory in lieu of flowers to Andrews Memorial Methodist Church, the American Diabetes Association, or the American Cancer Society.
