John W. Maas, 88, passed away Saturday at the VA Hospital in Syracuse, NY.
John honorably served in the US Army, and was stationed in Europe, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Purple Heart and many other medals for his actions in combat.

John spent 25 of his working years as a part owner in Berra & Rizzuto Bowling Lanes in Clifton, NJ.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth A. Maas; his children, Janet (Bradley) Harrison, and Robin (Nicholas) Koppenal and his grandchildren, David Harrison, Amy (Connor) Brazell, Kaitlin (Christopher) Dixon and Michele Koppenal.

Visitation will be 2-4pm Sat. Jan. 11 at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse. A funeral service will follow at 4pm. John will be buried at NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, at a later date.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association of CNY or to Deborah Heart and Lung Center.
