Syracuse- John R. Ventura, Sr., 69, of Syracuse passed away on Friday. John was born on March 14, 1949 the son of the late Daniel and Loretta Ventura. He was best known in the community as "Swimming Pool John", an attribute to his lifelong career in masonry. John was a pillar in the AA Community, and spent the majority of his life helping others. John was an avid fisherman. He was always known for entertaining his company with his witty sense of humor.
John is survived by his son, John R. (Kelly) Ventura, Jr., daughter, Jessica (Jonathan) Ventura, grandchildren, Adriel, Raena, John III, Averie, Cameron, sister, Janet (Jim) Hanyak. John is also survived by his friends & caretakers who stood by his side, Rick Johnston, Herman Whalen, and a long list of beloved friends.
Calling hours will be held on Monday May 14th from 4-7pm. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse, with a service to follow.
