John Raymond Tidd
July 10, 2015
In loving memory of John Raymond Tidd. John Raymond Tidd, 62, of Syracuse passed away on Friday.
John was the youngest of three kids and grew up in Ithaca, NY.
He was one of those men who could do anthing he put his mind to. Throughout his life he worked very hard at every endevour from making ice cream down at the Ithaca Purity Ice Cream parlor, moving and demolishing homes with his father, and as a baker at the Ithaca bakery. John was a jack of all trades with a natural mechanical mindset, he could fix just about anything. John was also an industrious entrepreneur proudly serving the freshest seafood in Ithaca at Hilsboro Seafood, he also was a night club owner/manager for several years and a landlord in Syracuse NY. John was the embodiment of the American dreamer, finding success and the inevitable set backs from time to time. He never stopped dreaming of something bigger and better. As good as he was as a business man, his greatest success was as a devoted and loving father to his children.
However, even this love for his children paled in compassion to his love and affection for his grandchildren, Natalie, Jillian, Gavin, Mathew, Gage and Hailey.
Above all John will be remembered most as a very caring and generous man always helping out those around.
He was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Lillian Tidd and brother Norman L Tidd.
He is surived by sister Donna Moore (Bob) of Urbandale IA, sons Alan Lauretti of Ithaca, Jeremy Tidd (Francine) of Atlanta GA, Peter Tidd of Syracuse NY, Chad Tidd (Natsumi) of Mobile, AL and several nieces and nephews. He was a true diamond in the rough and he will be greatly missed.
Calling Hours will be on Wednesday July 15 at New Comer Funeral Home from 4-7 pm.
A Sharing of Memories will follow.
