John Theodore Czarnecki, son of Teofial Czarnecki and Rose Kessler, passed away on Saturday at Newark-Wayne Hospital after a long illness. He was in the US Navy during WW II, combat veteran of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. In 1949 he married Margaret Fay, daughter of William and Catherine Fay. John worked at Allied Chemical in Solvay, NY, as a maintenance mechanic retiring in 1986 after 38 years.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret, of 63 years, 2 daughters; Virginia (Joseph) Rickert, Susan (Timothy) Green, grandsons; Jeffrey Rickert, Washington, DC, Dennis Rickert, Famington, NY, Kevin (Jill) Rickert, Madison, WI, great grandson, Blake Rickert, granddaughters; Shannon Green, Odenton, MD, Erin Green, Walworth, NY, brother-in-law, Donald Hogan, along with several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday 10am at Holy Family Church. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. There are no calling hours.
