John Rey
September 10, 1951 — December 11, 2020
John Rey, age 69 of Syracuse, NY passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Crouse Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Frances and Pascal; brother, Frank; and 2nd wife, Kathleen.
John is survived by his loving wife, Carol Rey; children, Jessica (JD) Howington, Michael (Katie), and Thomas; step-son, Nicholas Lough; 7 granddaughters; brother, Joseph Rey; several nieces and nephews.
John proudly served in the US Air Force. He retired from Syracuse Housing Authority after 30 years of service. John enjoyed fishing and hunting in his earlier years. He especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crouse Hospital COVID Unit.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2020 from 3:30 pm to 5 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main Street, N. Syracuse, NY. A memorial service will be held privately. John will be laid to rest in the Onondaga County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Gathering size within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks are required and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.
