John "Paul" Proulx

John 'Paul' Proulx, 94, of Syracuse passed away peacefully on Thursday.
Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Anne Marie Proulx; his sisters, Bea Stottlar, Alice Hempel Jane Kotash; his brother, Maurice Proulx and a grandson, Brandyn Yanock.
Survived by his brother, Charles Proulx; companion of many years, Jane Wright; son, Patrick (Christine) Wallace; daughters, Michele (Mark) Yanock, Paulette (Don) Kuehnert; 10 grandchildren and 9 nieces and nephews.
Paul was born December 24, 1920 in Marionville, Ontario and then moved to Syracuse area at the age of 5. He had lived many years in Cicero, N.Y. and then Constantia, N.Y.
He fought in World War II with the 32nd Division Company A 632nd Tank Destroyer Battalion. Fighting in combat from 1942 –1945 at Goodenough Island New Guinea, Southern Philippines and on D-Day the Island of Luzon in the Philippines.
Upon returning home he was employed with GE for 16 years and then as a construction worker for several years until retirement. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. During his retirement he enjoyed many camping trips including several camping trips to Alaska. He was a loving Father, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend.
Calling hours will be Tuesday 4-7PM at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse. A service will be Wednesday 10AM at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Onondaga County Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VA Medical Center, 800 Irving Ave., Syracuse, NY 13210.
