John P. Morris

October 30, 1953 — September 28, 2024

Syracuse

It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of John Paul Morris, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, good neighbor and friend to many. John was born October 30, 1953, to Ellen Carroll Morris and George Harold Morris in Cortland, NY. He attended school in Cortland, Homer and Cascadilla School in Ithaca.

John was a gifted photographer all his life, working 20 years in the architectural and tradeshow industry at Photomedia in Syracuse, NY as well as being in demand as a wedding photographer. He was a friend to many artists in the community, frequently providing his talent to photograph their artwork. He also worked 16 years as a Service Advisor at Alan Byer Volvo. He was a green thumb gardener, generously sharing the bounty of his harvest with family, friends and neighbors. He delighted us with stunning images of scenery and flowers taken during his many outdoor adventures. John was a natural in the kitchen, serving up the best comfort food ever (and some wicked desserts) for his family.

John is survived by his wife of 36 years, Linda; his children Heather and Hilary; grandchildren April, Johnathan, and David; siblings Connie Avery, Donald Morris and Ronald Morris; Niece Anna (Mitchell) McCleary, grandniece Lily McClary, Uncle Earl Carroll and the best canine companion Arie. John was predeceased by his brother George Thomas Morris, his parents and his Aunt Karolyn Carroll.

John was loved dearly for being a one-of-a-kind free spirit with a kind and generous heart. He put people at ease everywhere with his gift of gab, great sense of humor, charming personality and smile. A unique and beautiful flower child at heart, John gave us so much happiness and so much laughter. He will be missed forever.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. To share a memory of John or to leave a special message for the family, please view the guestbook below.
