John M. Shattell, 66, of Cicero, formerly of Greene County passed away Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, NY. He retired from the Railroad after 42 years of service. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. John was a charted member of the Gold Wing Road Rider Association.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Mary (Nelipowitz),his first wife, Mary E. Gerace of 42 years and grandson, Dennis R. Shattell Jr.

He leaves behind his wife, Wannitta; his children, Dennis R. Shattell, Mary L. Hester, John P. (Tracey L.) Shattell. Genevieve Coir and Robert (Julie) Hatter; brothers, Darren and Charles; grandchildren, Laura L. (Matthew L.), Lawrence, Ashley Lostritto, Nicole M. Bell, Stephen J. Shattell, Brian C. Hester, Christopher D. Hester, Andrea M. Hester, AJ and Evan O'Brien; two great grandchildren, Francis R. Burdick and Kaylee R. Lawrence.

Services will be Wednesday 7 p.m. at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St, N. Syracuse. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home
