John F. Laris

John F. Laris, 84, of N. Syracuse, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on December 28, 2024, after a short illness. John was born in Syracuse, NY on April 11, 1940, to the late James and Mary Rose Laris. As a young man, John worked as a transmission rebuilder at the Laris Garage, his family’s business in downtown Syracuse. He later worked as a shop manager for Dick’s Transmissions in North Syracuse before retiring in 1993. A lifelong racing fan, John loved attending the local modified and super modified races; as well as, NASCAR races. 

John was preceded in death by his sisters, Debbie Laris and Susan Duncan and his granddaughter, Jenna Klaisle (née Laris). 

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Mary Laris; daughter, Tracey Milazzo, of Liverpool NY and seven sons: Keith (Diana) Laris of Cape Coral, Fl, Brian Laris of Syracuse, NY, Scott (Stephanie) Laris of Palm Harbor, FL, John C. Laris of Syracuse, NY, Kurt (Rhonda) Laris of N. Syracuse, NY, Steven (Melissa) Laris of Kirkville, NY and Russell (Nicole) Laris of Liverpool, NY; sisters, Joanne Kenneson and Judith Nichols; brother, James Laris Jr. and stepbrothers, Mark Laris and Michael Laris; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 08, 2025 from 3-5pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Services and burial will be private.
