John R. Kammer

December 30, 1927 — August 21, 2021

Saturday, August 21, 2021 was a sad day for the Kammer family. Our Dad, John Richard Kammer passed at the age of 93.
Most of John's children were by his side on that day. John had 9 children with his wife, Phyllis who passed in 2008.
Two of his children passed, Jackie in 1953 and Paul in 2006.

His other children are Linda (David) Alger of Cato, New York, Teresa (Wayne) Paddock of Baldwinsville, New York, David (Trisha) Kammer of Rimrock, Arizona, Donald (Esther) Kammer of Baldwinsville, New York, Elizabeth (Paul) Haley of Baldwinsville, New York, Charles (June) Kammer of Williamston, North Carolina and Douglas Kammer of Oswego, New York, daughter in law Kathy Kammer of Memphis New York.

John also enjoyed 10 years of marriage to Florence (Flo) Thomas, of Centerville, New York. Flo nursed John back to health after a fall in 2016, and was a delight to be around, but passed away in 2018.

We all knew our dad as a hard worker that provided well for our mother, Phyllis and all his children. John loved to work as a carpenter and if he built it, it would be built right and strong. He had an old porter cable saw he handled like an artist and was skilled at its use. Back in the 1960's, we would camp as a family on the shore of Lake Ontario for the summer. Dad though would only be there on the weekends, mostly, because he was back in Syracuse working so we could enjoy our summers.

John was an incredible person. After our mom, Phyllis suffered a stroke, dad retired early to stay home and take care of her. That he did for many years until her death. Also for a few years, our mom's mother (gramma Grace) was taken care of by our dad, until her death. Over the past years, our dad started to become worse in health. Teresa and her husband, Wayne moved out of their home to our Dad's home to help care for him. However, the last weeks the whole family pitched in, as our dad started slipping away. We saw it an honor, on our part, to care for our dad that sacrificed so much for others. What an example he set use and everyone.

Dad also loved and enjoyed 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A highlight of our dad's life was being baptized in 1979 as one of Jehovah's witnesses. Dad was always eager to tell people about the message of hope from the Bible. Dad knew of the hope and the resurrection life on earth in paradise to come. Dad was delighted that most of his family was united in worship of our great God Jehovah!

Yes our dad, John Kammer will be missed by the many people that knew him.
