Jack Fitzsimmons, 86, of Baldwinsville, passed away Thursday surrounded by family.
Graduate of Ft. Schuyler Maritime Academy in 1947. Jack also served in the US Navy and the Naval Reserves. Married Rita Bidwell in 1950.
He was employed at Crucible Steel Wire Mill. He was also the President of Auburn Plastics and went on to purchase Diversified Case Co. in Whitesboro, NY.
He retired with his wife and moved to Florida. He enjoyed boating with his family, traveling around the world, taking cruises and reading. Jack will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, putting his family first.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Rita Fitzsimmons; his children, Cheryl (Bob) Andree of Ithaca, NY, John J. Fitzsimmons Jr. of Clay, NY, Michael (Carol) Fitzsimmons of New Hartford, NY and Mary (Nikola) Radonich of Westwood, MA; eight grandchildren, Lauren, Travis (Sarah), Jacqueline (fiance Max), Michael (fiancée Gina and her son Troy), Travis, Brian, Peter, and Thomas; great-grandchild Brandon with one on the way; and John's brother, Robert (Bobbie) Fitzsimmons.
Predeceased by his brother, Richard.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 AM on Wednesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Baldwinsville. Inurnment Onondaga County Veterans' Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Parkinson's or Alzheimer's charity of your choice.
