John J. Gianni, 85, of North Syracuse passed away Wednesday. Born in Syracuse, John served our country in WW II as a medic in the US Army. He was an accomplished chef whose leftovers could be traded for any snack in the lunchroom. John also loved to play the harmonica. He spent many hours' playing cards with friends. John had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. His smile and laughter will be missed greatly by his family and friends. John was the loving husband to his wife of 52 years, Grace Lois Rathbun Gianni who passed in 2002.

He is survived by his children; Ron (Pam) Gianni, Lisa (Bob) Lummel and Christine (Bob Daniul) Kerr, 5 grandchildren; Nick, Missy and Kristen Gianni, Andrew Lummel, RJ Kerr, 2 great grandchildren; Kaleb and Ayden Gianni and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Monday at 10 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, North Syracuse. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1-4 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse.

The family would like to send a message of thanks to all the Doctors' and Nurses' at the VA Medical Center for there patience and kindness.
