John D. Witherbee, 86, Syracuse and Mineville, NY died unexpectedly but
peacefully in his sleep on 4/19/09 at his home in Syracuse.
He grew up in Witherbee and Mineville, NY and went to work in the Republic
Steel Mines in 1940 where he worked until the mines closed down in 1972. Over
the next 28 years he had several jobs. The one he enjoyed most was at the
Ticonderoga Country Club where he made many friends. In 1999 he retired and
moved to Syracuse.
He was married to Marcia Paddock for 40 years, until her death in Sept. 2000.
With each being previously married, between them they had 10 children of whom

AZ, Lainie Worlock, Syracuse, NY, Margaret Jones, Enosburg Falls, VT, Nora
Straight, Marshfield, VT, John Witherbee Jr. Baldwinsville, NY, and Timothy
Witherbee, Syracuse, NY. He also has 25 grandchildren and 22 great-
grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sat. 4/25, 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of
Jehovah's Witnesses in Baldwinsville, NY.
Donations can be made in his memory to the VA Volunteer Transportation group
at the Syracuse VA Hospital.
