John A. Gilbert, Sr., 64, of Liverpool died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He retired from Liverpool Central Schools in 2001 following 26 years as a head custodian. John was a US Army veteran. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Aileen Gilbert, a brother, James, a sister, Janet Getman, a niece, Julie and a nephew, Edward.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years the former, Sharon Sullivan; two sons, John, Jr. (Margaret) and Thomas "TJ" Gilbert; a daughter, Shannon Owens; sisters, Juanita Kallassy and Judy (Ted) Donato; his precious grandchildren, Johny and Shelby; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday, 9 Am at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse, 10 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. 705 N. Main St.
