Joanne Grimshaw, born on September 2, 1939, in Liverpool, NY, passed away on April 23, 2023 at her home in Trinity, Florida. Joanne was a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and a beloved member of her community. She will be remembered for her love of camping and the outdoors, movies, musicals, and painting with watercolors, as well as her roles as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Joanne had a passion for the arts and found joy in expressing herself through various creative outlets. She delighted in watching TikTok videos and keeping up with the latest trends, always with a youthful spirit and a sense of humor. She also had a deep appreciation for camping, outdoors, movies and musicals, often immersing herself in the stories and melodies that brought her joy.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Joanne had a fulfilling career as an LPN, dedicating herself to caring for others. Her compassionate nature and gentle touch brought comfort to those in need, and she was widely respected and admired for her dedication to her profession.
Joanne was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family deeply. She leaves behind cherished memories for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to hold onto forever. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, her warm presence, and her kind heart.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Kernan. She is survived by her husband, Ralph of 64 years; son, Mathew Grimshaw (Robin); daughters. Martha Killian (Steven), Patricia Killian (Joel), and Lori Verzillo (Joseph); brothers, David Merrill, Fred Merrill, Rick Merrill, John Merrill and Jim Merrill; sister, Judy Stobaugh as well as 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Joanne Grimshaw's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her legacy of creativity, compassion, and love will continue to inspire those who knew her. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her. Rest in peace, dear Joanne.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 2nd from 4-7 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, N. Syracuse. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday May 3rd at 12 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in North Syracuse Cemetery.
