JoAnn L. Barker, 77, of North Syracuse, was a beloved mother, grandmother, GigiJo and friend who passed away peacefully at Crouse hospital after a long illness. Born in North Syracuse, she was a graduate of North Syracuse High School. She retired from Syracuse University. JoAnn always had a love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, friends and dog Misty. She enjoyed getting the family all together for family events full of laughter and core memories. She was a member of the Columbiettes and enjoyed years of traveling with her husband in their antique car.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald W. Barker; sister, MaryAnne Marzullo; parents, Joseph Curro, Linda and Salvatore Marzullo.
She is survived by three sons, Donald W. (Tammy) Barker Jr., Jeffrey A. Barker and Thomas S. (Kellie) Barker; three daughters, Linda J. (Brett VanSlyke) Barker, MaryAnne (Kevin) Zurawski and Terry Lynn (Jeffry) Larmer; grandsons, Donald W (Lacy) Barker III, Joseph Medico, Justin and Nathan Zurawski, Zackery Barker, Connor and Peyton Larmer; granddaughters, Ashley (Matt) Blake, MaryKate Medico and Rachel VanSlyke; great-grandchildren, Beau Wallace and Brooklyn Alana Barker, Christopher Maverick Blake and Johnathan Deuel; three brothers, Anthony, Thomas and Salvatore Marzullo and several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on February 28th, 2022 from 6-8PM at New Comer Cremations and Funerals. Mass of Christian burial will follow at St. Rose of Lima Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at North Syracuse Cemetery.
