Joan A. Stapleton

Joan A. Stapleton, 83, of Baldwinsville, passed away on Friday September 22, 2023 at Crouse Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Joan was born in Syracuse on February 26,1940, daughter of the late John and Lucy Dattellas. She was raised in Solvay, NY graduating from Solvay High School in 1959.

In 1961, Joan married her high school sweetheart Jack (John Stapleton) and they settled in Liverpool to raise their family. Following her retirement from Allstate in 1997, Joan and Jack moved to Bullhead City, AZ where she enjoyed the warmer weather, cheered on the Arizona Cardinals, never met a penny slot machine she didn't like in nearby Laughlin, NV and, most importantly, where she served her community as a Eucharistic Minister and choir member at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Joan and Jack moved back to the Syracuse area in 2020 where she spent her remaining years enjoying time with her family.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband of 62 years, John Stapleton, four sons, David (Lynn) Stapleton, Patrick (Brandy) Stapleton, Sean (Cheryl) Stapleton and Ken (Lindsey) Stapleton, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sister, Mary Przybycien, four brothers, John Dattellas, Joseph (Lorraine) Dattellas, Paul (Lisa) Dattellas and Carl (Christine) Dattellas, brother-in-law, Jim Stapleton, along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 27 from 9:00am - 10:30am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Burial will take place following the visitation at Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
