Joan M. Clancy

Joan M. Clancy, 76, of North Syracuse, passed away on Monday at the Francis House after a long illness. Our beloved Mother was born on September 9, 1935 in South Bronx, NY daughter of Patrick and Kathleen Mooney. On May 24, 1958 she married Robert A. Clancy. After nearly 40 years of marriage, Bob passed away in November 1997. She was last employed at Inficon for many years and later enjoyed being a home healthcare aide. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church and also attended St. Joseph's the Worker in Liverpool. Joan was active at the Centerville Court Community Center and enjoyed arts & crafts. Joan was a talented artist and seamstress and enjoyed sharing this gift with others.
Surviving are 3 sons; Robert A. Jr. (Nancy), Daniel (Andrea), John (Grace), 2 daughters; Joanne Hirsch (David Sturtevant), Lizabeth Chimenti (Ron Gralnik), 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 3 brothers; Joseph (Pauline), James (Helena) and Patrick (Mary Lou) Mooney, in-laws; Joan Mooney and Robert Doyle, along with many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 2 brothers, John and Martin Mooney, 2 sisters, Patricia Parks and Kathleen Doyle.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5-8pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Funeral mass will be held on Friday 10am at St. Rose of Lima Church, N. Syracuse with burial at Onondaga Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
