Joan L. Plumb
March 5, 2015
The loving, generous life of Joan (McGuire) Plumb, 82, of Liverpool ended peacefully at home surrounded by family in the early hours of Thursday March 5, 2015. Joan was a loving and devoted daughter, but most importantly an amazing wife and mother. Her greatest legacy lives on in her four children, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A native of Syracuse, Joan graduated from Holy Rosary High School. She worked for the phone company after graduating from high school.
On February 23, 1952, Joan married the love of her life, Michael Plumb. She chose to stay home to channel her talents and energies into raising her children. As her children grew she worked for the Liverpool School District and Flickingers Cash and Carry before retiring in 1987.
She had a huge love of life, but her special passions were cooking, crafts, playing cards, reading, SU basketball, but spending time with her family, especially at Lake Ontario and in the Adirondack Mountains was what she enjoyed most. Joan was beloved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Michael Sr. of Liverpool; children, Michael (Katie) Plumb of North Syracuse, Colleen (Nick) Pallotta of Liverpool, Patty (Brian) Ness of Liverpool, and Richard (Mary) Plumb of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, John (Katie) Pallotta, Brian (Stephanie) Ness, Meghan (Steve) Stasko, Jennifer Ness, Christopher (Dawn) Plumb, Kristi (Sam) Carroll, Matthew (Katie) Plumb, Nicholas Pallotta, Lauren Plumb, and Sean Plumb; great grandchildren, Charlie and Eli Ness, Liam and Luca Pallotta, Zoey and Giovanna Carroll, Jack Stasko and Landon Plumb.
Services will be private. Newcomer Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of CNY. They provided the most amazing care for Joan in her final weeks.
