Joan E. Broome-Kelly, 78, of Syracuse, previously of Savannah, GA passed away January 6, 2023.
Joan was born in Syracuse, New York on February 18, 1944 to the late Isiah and Emily Smith.
She was born into the People AME Zion Church and was an active member in the community and church. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Joan was a born artist, innovator and lover of the color purple. She created so many beautiful works of art over the years. She specifically would love to create gifts for her grandchildren. She was an excellent floral arranger who would often use her gift for family weddings, funerals and church events.
Joan was a devoted member of St. Luke AME Zion Church and was President of the Stewardess Board. She was always head of the Christmas committee and enjoyed decorating and her crafts. She assisted widows and was a transporter for Army soldiers at Hunters Army Airfield during the Iraq war deployment.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, John Robinson Kelly in 2020.
She is survived by her Children, Marie Viola Smith, Derek Smith, Dorian Smith and Venus Likulumbi; Grandchildren, Darren Smith, Dwight Smith, Dwanah Marie Caver, Jeanette Smith, Jjoni-Elyne K. Likulumbi, Honore F. Likulumbi II; Sister, Marie Viola Sims; As well as many more grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services will be held at a later date. Burial will be private in Woodlawn Cemetery.
